Interview with Legrand’s Representative in Cambodia

Legrand, worldwide expert in the electrical and digital infrastructures of the building industry, opened its first representative office and showroom in Cambodia in the city of Phnom Penh last April 28.

We met its Country Representative, Wandrille de Pierrefeu.

Wandrille, could you first introduce yourself ? 

French, 28 years old and graduated from a Business School. I came in Asia for the first time in 2008 within an Erasmus Exchange program in Philippines. Since, I’ve had the opportunity within my professional functions, to live in Thailand, Vietnam, Singapour and now, in Cambodia where I arrived in November 2015. I spent the last 3 years as a Business Development Manager for Legrand, headquartered in Singapour, working across Southeast Asia, being mainly responsible for data-centers and factories projects.

Then, I came in Cambodia in 2015 to launch Legrand’s local activities, including the opening of an office and a showroom as well as the development of an ecosystem around Legrand, made of prescribers, installers, distributors and numerous resellers which allow us to answer to the electrical and computing needs on every constructions types.

Could you describe Legrand’s activity ? 

Legrand is the worldwide expert in electrical and digital infrastructures of the construction sector. Its comprehensive range adapted to the low voltage Market for the tertiary, industrial and residential segments, makes Legrand the worldwide reference among distributors, electrical installers, prescribers and end users.

Legrand generated in 2015, a turnover of over 4,8 billion Euro. Close to its markets and turned towards its entire economic chain, Legrand counts more than 36 000 collaborators and have commercial and industrial establishments in nearly 90 countries.

 Why did you choose Cambodia to establish Legrand and what added value can you bring on the local Market ?

The opening of a local office and showroom allows Legrand, in the continuity of its regional strategy, to be closer to its clients in order to bring them a commercial and technical service ever more efficient, while developing its relationships with its distributors.

Legrand has been known for a long time in Cambodia for the quality, the security and the effectiveness of its products. This is notably what led to an increase of the demand over the past years.

On a Market without any build policies, overwhelmed by doubtful quality products as well as an increase of fires in the Kingdom (a 15% increase between 2014 and 2015) due to electric defects, the brand Legrand reassures, and has become in few years, an obvious choice for many real estate investors.
